मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग मामले में गाजियाबाद की एक अदालत द्वारा शुरू की गई कार्यवाही को रद्द करने के लिए राणा अय्यूब की याचिका पर सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने अपना आदेश सुरक्षित रखा है. ईडी (ED) और अय्यूब की दलीलें सुनने के बाद फैसला सुरक्षित रखा गया है. सुप्रीम कोर्ट तय करेगा कि गाजियाबाद अदालत के समन को रद्द किया जाए या नहीं. अय्यूब की ओर से वृंदा ग्रोवर ने कहा गाजियाबाद की अदालत का कोई अधिकार क्षेत्र नहीं है, इस समन को रद्द किया जाए. वहीं इसका विरोध करते हुए सॉलिसिटर जनरल तुषार मेहता ने कहा कार्रवाई का कारण गाजियाबाद में है और हम केवल उसमें हैं. हम चाहते हैं कि यह मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग रुके. हमारे पास पुख़्ता सबूत हैं कि मनी लॉंड्रिंग की गई है.
इससे पहले 25 जनवरी को पत्रकार राणा अय्यूब को राहत मिली थी. सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने गाजियाबाद कोर्ट को 27 जनवरी को होने वाली सुनवाई टालने को कहा था. हालांकि जारी किए गए समन पर रोक लगाने से इनकार किया था. सुप्रीम कोर्ट में जस्टिस कृष्ण मुरारी और जस्टिस वी रामसुब्रमण्यम की बेंच ने सुनवाई के दौरान कहा था कि याचिका को लेकर सीधे सुप्रीम कोर्ट क्यों आएं हैं. क्षेत्राधिकार का मुद्दा इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट भी सुन सकता है.

राणा अय्यूब की ओर से वृंदा ग्रोवर ने कहा था ये मामला गाजियाबाद कोर्ट के अधिकार क्षेत्र का नहीं है. ये मामला बॉम्बे हाईकोर्ट का है. ईडी की दिल्ली यूनिट ने जांच की तो मामला गाजियाबाद कैसे पहुंचा ? यूपी में कानून व्यवस्था नहीं है. याचिकाकर्ता एक पत्रकार है. उसे संरक्षण दिया जाए. उसने पूरी तरह जांच में सहयोग किया है. उसे कभी गिरफ्तार नहीं किया गया. उसकी स्वतंत्रता को खतरा है. जब तक हाईकोर्ट में सुनवाई ना हो तब तक अंतरिम संरक्षण किया जाए.
ईडी की ओर से सॉलिसिटर जनरल तुषार मेहता ने कहा था इस मामले में राहत नहीं दी जा सकती. इस मामले में एजेंसी के पास पुख्ता सबूत हैं. याचिकाकर्ता पूरे राज्य पर संदेह व्यक्त कर रही है.
राणा अय्यूब की गाजियाबाद कोर्ट द्वारा जारी किए गए समन को चुनौती देने वाली याचिका पर सुप्रीम कोर्ट सुनवाई कर रहा था. पत्रकार राणा अय्यूब ने गाजियाबाद कोर्ट द्वारा 27 जनवरी को पेश होने को लेकर जारी किए गए समन को चुनौती देते हुए सुप्रीम कोर्ट का रुख किया है. गाजियाबाद कोर्ट ने प्रवर्तन निदेशालय द्वारा दायर चार्जशीट का संज्ञान लेने के बाद राणा अयूब के खिलाफ समन जारी किया है.
आरोप है कि राणा अय्यूब ने एक ऑनलाइन क्राउड-फंडिंग प्लेटफॉर्म, 'केटो' के जरिए अभियान चलाकर चैरिटी के नाम पर आम जनता से अवैध रूप से धन इकट्ठा किया. ईडी जांच के अनुसार ऑनलाइन प्लेटफॉर्म पर जुटाई गई धनराशि राणा अय्यूब के पिता और बहन के खाते में ट्रांसफर की गई थी. अय्यूब ने अपने लिए 50 लाख रुपये की एफडी भी बनवाई थी
जबकि चैरिटी के लिए लगभग 29 लाख रुपये का इस्तेमाल किया था.

Adani Enterprises' FPO Sees Demand Of 1.25 Times Total Issue Size: Sources
The portion of Adani Enterprises Ltd's follow-on share sale for qualified institutional buyers and non-institutional investors has been "fully subscribed", people with direct knowledge of the matter have said.
The demand for Adani Enterprises' follow-on offering, or FPO, of Rs 20,000 crore on its last day is over 1.25 times of the total issue size, people familiar with the matter said. The share sale needs at least 90 per cent subscription to go through.
FPOs are done by already listed companies to diversify their equity shareholding.
The issue was subscribed 3 per cent yesterday. The anchor portion that makes 30 per cent of the FPO closed last week with funds from investors like Abu Dhabi Investment Authority.
Abu Dhabi conglomerate International Holding Company will also invest $400 million in the issue.
Adani group firms have lost over $65 billion in stock market value since Hindenburg Research's January 24 report flagged concerns about the group's high debt levels and its suspected improper use of tax havens. Adani has called the report baseless.
Out of the Rs 20,000 crore proceeds from the FPO, Rs 10,869 crore will be used for green hydrogen projects, work at existing airports and construction of a green field expressway.
At least Rs 4,165 crore will be used to repay debt taken by its airports, road and solar project subsidiaries.

Severed Head Of Suicide Bomber Found At Pakistan Mosque Blast Site: Cops
Rescue officials on Tuesday recovered the severed head of the suspected suicide bomber who they believe blew himself up inside a mosque packed with worshippers during the afternoon prayers on Monday in the high-security zone in Pakistan's restive northwestern Peshawar city.
The death count from the bomb blast rose to 93, with 221 people severely wounded, police officials said, even as rescue operations continued to retrieve the remaining bodies from the debris.
The powerful blast occurred inside the mosque in the Police Lines area around 1.40 pm when worshippers, which included personnel of the police, army and bomb disposal squad -- were offering the Zuhr (afternoon) prayers.
The suicide bomber who was present in the front row blew himself up, causing the roof to collapse on the worshippers, officials said.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar Mohammad Aijaz Khan told Geo TV that the blast appeared to be a suicide attack and the head of the suspected bomber was recovered at the site in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
"It is possible that the attacker was already present in the Police Lines before the blast and that he may have used an official vehicle [to enter]," he was quoted as saying by Geo TV.
Khan added the exact nature of the blast will be known once the rescue operation concludes.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Caretaker Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan on Tuesday announced a day of mourning in the province following the attack.
The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), known as the Pakistani Taliban, claimed responsibility for the suicide attack, saying it was part of a revenge attack for TTP commander Umar Khalid Khurasani who was killed in Afghanistan in August last.
A police official said that a portion of the mosque collapsed and several people were believed to be under it.
The TTP, set up as an umbrella group of several terror outfits in 2007, called off a ceasefire with the federal government and ordered its terrorists to stage attacks across the country.
The group, which is believed to be close to al-Qaeda, has been blamed for several deadly attacks across Pakistan, including an attack on army headquarters in 2009, assaults on military bases, and the 2008 bombing of the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad.
In 2014, the Pakistani Taliban attacked the Army Public School (APS) in the northwestern city of Peshawar, killing at least 150 people, including 131 students.
The attack has sent shockwaves across the world and was widely condemned.

Box Office Report: Pathaan Set To Be Fastest Hindi Film To Make 300 Crore
The records continue to accumulate for Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan's new release and a smash hit at the box office. Ticket sales in India total Rs 296.50 crore in six days, reported trade analyst Taran Adarsh. Pathaan passes the Monday test with a respectable Rs 25.50 crore and heads towards a new record on Day 7, which is today. This means that once Day 7's collections are reported tomorrow, Pathaan will have crossed the Rs 300 crore benchmark faster than the Hindi dubs of Baahubali: The Conclusion and KGF: Chapter 2, the previous record holders in the Hindi film industry. Pathaan will have made Rs 300 crore at the domestic box office in a week, quicker than Baahubali: The Conclusion's 10 days and KGF: Chapter 2's 11 (the Hindi dubs of these films).

The film's worldwide gross was over Rs 540 crore as of yesterday.
Pathaan has already broken several records – it is Bollywood's biggest opener and fetched the fastest Rs 200 and Rs 250 crore. It is also the only Hindi film to earn close to Rs 70 crore in a single day.
Pathaan stars Shah Rukh Khan in the title role of a RAW agent who teams up with Deepika Padukone's character on an anti-terror mission against rogue agent Jim, played by John Abraham. Directed by Siddharth Anand, Pathaan released on January 25.

Anushka and Virat were in Dubai for the New Year's before their Vrindavan trip. Only a few days remain before Kohli would return to the cricket field, resuming his on-field responsibilities.
Kohli has been in fine touch over the past few weeks, scoring ODI 3 centuries (one against Bangladesh and two against Sri Lanka). In the 50-over assignment against New Zealand, however, the talismanic batter could only score a total of 55 runs in three matches.

Box Office Report: SRK's Pathaan "Tsunami" Makes Rs 542 Cr Worldwide
Shah Rukh Khan's new release Pathaan, now in its sixth day on screens, continues to destroy the box office. The action-thriller, co-starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, has made over Rs 500 crore gross worldwide – Rs 542 crore, to be precise, reports trade analyst Taran Adarsh. The gross is broken into Rs 335 crore at home and Rs 207crore overseas. "Pathaan crosses Rs 500 crore mark: Rs 542 crore worldwide gross in 5 days." Mr Adarsh tweeted, with the breakup, describing Pathaan's box office run as a "tsunami" in a separate tweet.
In India, the film has made Rs 271 crore in five days with the Tamil and Telugu dubs adding Rs 9.75 crore. Sunday's ticket sales of Rs 58.5 crore takes the Hindi version of Pathaan's domestic earnings within shooting distance of the 300 crore mark. "Pathaan is a BO tsunami. Pathaan, is already the fastest Hindi film to hit the 250 crore mark, overtaking KGF: Chapter 2, Baahubali: The Conclusion, Dangal, Sanju and Tiger Zinda Hai. Before it released on January 25, Pathaan had sold 5.5 lakh tickets in advance bookings, second only to KGF: Chapter 2 in terms of Hindi and Hindi-dubbed films. It opened in over 100 countries on 8,000 screens – the highest of any Hindi film.
Pathaan, directed by Siddharth Anand, stars Shah Rukh Khan in the title role, a RAW agent who teams up with Deepika Padukone's character to tackle a terror threat from agent-gone-rogue Jim, played by John Abraham.

Australian Man Dies From Snake Bite In Front Of Wife: Report
A man in Australia died from a suspected venomous snakebite in front of his wife before paramedics could arrive. According to New Zealand Herald, the man, aged in his 60s, was bitten on his hand at a private property in Queensland on Saturday. The species of the snake has not been confirmed, but it is believed that the unnamed man died after being bitten by an eastern brown snake.
As per the outlet, the father of the two died at Lockyer Valley, which is about 50 kilometres from Brisbane. His neighbour Michelle Vedredi said that she received multiple calls and messages from family and friends following the tragedy.
"There were asking if I was okay because the helicopter had been and there were four ambulances and cop cars," Ms Vedredi said. "Someone told me they could hear his wife screaming through the fence for help before ambulances got there," she told Courier Mail.

According to Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers contractor Heather McMurray, Queensland is experiencing a snake season, which started in October and will be ending in April. "The heat and the humidity is certainly bringing (snakes) out - the pythons are loving the humidity and the brown snakes are loving the hot, dry days," she said.

"Xi Jinping's Real Mission Was To Get Me Fired": Ex Top US Official
Mike Pompeo has said that among the dozens of world leaders he met as the US Secretary of State, he found the "most unpleasant" was Chinese President Xi Jinping, who threatened to stop sending PPF kits to America if it kept asking for accountability from Beijing on Covid-19.
In his book titled 'Never Give an Inch: Fighting for the America I Love,' former US Secretary of State Pompeo, 59, writes that he held multiple interactions with the Chinese leader and found him "dour" and a "quintessential Communist apparatchik".
He writes that Xi told stories about Chinese victimhood and talked about his "demands to avenge grievances from long before any of us were born".
"Personally, I thought Xi was dour. While Putin can be funny and mirthful, even while being evil, Xi was not so serious as dead-eyed. I never once saw an unforced smile," Mr Pompeo writes in the book that hit the bookshops on Tuesday.
"I also found Xi a quintessential Communist apparatchik: heavy in the abstract, light on the issues under discussion, and always eager to impose his views, even while he pretends to be listening to you. He fit the psychological profile of an East German or Soviet Communist I came to study during my Army days," Mr Pompeo notes.
The former US Secretary of State writes in the book about his several interactions with the 69-year-old Chinese leader.
Pompeo notes that Xi talked in "hollow tones" and was always in search of words, phrases, and archaic Chinese proverbs of questionable clarity.
"My China policy advisor at the State Department, Miles Yu, later told me that CCP leaders in general, and General Secretary Xi in particular, deploy overwrought erudition to play gullible American leaders," he said.
"Of the dozens of world leaders I met, he was among the most unpleasant. How's that for telling the hard truth? Having now seen the regime personified at the highest level, I was gripped by just how different its leaders were from the Chinese people," Mr Pompeo said.
He says a small business he ran in Kansas, with an operation in Shanghai that employed fewer than 15 people, enabled him to travel to China several times in the early 2000s.
"I had come to love the Chinese people, and I still do. It saddened me that the American model of engagement with China had emboldened a regime with such utter disdain for basic human dignity and that viewed its own people as cogs in the Marxist system of power," he writes.
Xi, 69, was re-elected as the General Secretary of the ruling Communist Party of China for a record third five-year term last year, a privilege only accorded to party founder Mao Zedong.
Referring to his first meeting with Xi, Mr Pompeo said he sized him up and told him what he thought.
"It was clear that he sought to take the measure of me and the Trump team, too. He had already met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago in April 2017. On that occasion, Trump disclosed that he had ordered a strike against Syria and other targets just a few minutes earlier. Undoubtedly, Xi knew this was not Team Obama. My message in Beijing reinforced it," he said.
In the book, Pompeo writes that at the peak of the Covid-19 crisis, Xi told then-president Donald Trump that continued calls for accountability would jeopardise America's ability to receive Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) shipped from China.
Coronavirus originated in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in early December 2019 before spreading across the world, killing over 6 million people globally, upending businesses.
According to the WHO, as of January 27, 2023, there have been 752,517,552 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 6,804,491 deaths.
"The United States was still in the early stages of understanding what we were up against, and the President made the tough call that putting America first meant not jeopardising our ability to procure potentially life-saving equipment from China," Mr Pompeo writes.
"At the same time, however, I was determined to impose accountability by telling the truth. I knew that the CCP already was not happy with me," he said.
Mr Pompeo said that on March 25, he held a press conference at the State Department and tore into the party over its decision to hide a looming global disaster.
He says that he suspects that his harsh words influenced Trump's previously scheduled call with Xi the next evening, March 26.
"I joined the call from a secure location, while the President was at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. It started off cordially, as Xi offered Eastern medicines that he assured us would stem the symptoms of COVID-19, if Trump needed them. Yet Xi's real mission was to get me fired," Mr Pompeo writes.
"He railed against me: Pompeo has defamed the Chinese people. Pompeo is antagonistic and a pugilist without reason. Pompeo is risking the trade deal we signed two months ago. Pompeo is immature and jeopardises all we've built together. I'm sure that he knew I was on the call, so I admired his directness, if not his objective," he wrote.
Mr Pompeo writes that soon after the call, Trump called him and said: "My Mike, that f--ing guy hates you!".
"We should chat in the morning, as the hour was late in DC, but that I needed to 'shut the hell up for a while.' We needed that health equipment from China, he said," Mr Pompeo writes.
"At his direction, I committed to a temporary rhetorical ceasefire. There was only one moment when I thought my job might be at risk. I'd watched President Trump aim his ire at many cabinet officials over the previous three years, but had never really worried that I could be on the way out. Now it was my turn," he said.
According to the book, a few days later when Mr Pompeo was in the Oval Office, Trump walked in, and saw him in person for the first time since the Xi call.
He said: "You guys need to know Xi hates that guy. Mike, you're putting us all at risk - the PPE, our trade deal. Stop, for God's sake!", notes the book.
"When I went home that night, I told Susan that my good run might be near its end. I would not praise Xi or the CCP for their death-dealing lies. Quiet for a time? Fine," Mr Pompeo writes.

Watch: Rare 4-Foot-Long Eel Washes Up On Beach In US, Internet Stumped
While surveying a beach, a marine researcher found a 'rare,' 4-foot-long American eel washed up in Texas, CNN reported. The video of the lifeless marine creature was shared on Facebook by the official page of Mission-Aransas Reserve. Jace Tunnell, director of the Mission-Aransas Reserve, who spotted the eel in the sand called the find “rare”.
In the video, he showed off the massive 4-foot-long American eel to viewers and explained more about the sea creature. "But this thing is massive. It's got to be like 4-foot-long," he said. This particular eel is also likely a female, Mr Tunnell said in the video. "They're larger than the males," he said. "Females can have up to 4 million eggs."
American eels are typically a lot smaller and commonly used for fishing bait, Mr Tunnell said, adding "Obviously, this one's too big for that."

बॉलीवुड के दिग्गज कलाकार अन्नू कपूर को सीने में तकलीफ के चलते सर गंगाराम हॉस्पिटल में भर्ती कराया गया था. इलाज के बाद अब उन्हें छुट्टी दे दी गई हैं. सर गंगाराम अस्पताल में उनका इलाज कार्डियोलॉजी टीम ने किया है. जिसमें डॉ रजनीश जैन समेत और कई डॉक्टर शामिल हैं. डॉ रजनीश जैन के मुताबिक अन्नू कपूर को हालत में सुधार के बाद अस्पताल से छुट्टी दे दी गई है."
अन्नू कपूर को सीने में तकलीफ के बाद दिल्ली के गंगाराम अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया था. अस्पताल में एडमिट हुए अन्नू कपूर की हालत में सुधार देखने को मिला जिसके बाद रविवार को उन्हें अस्पताल से छुट्टी दे दी गई. अन्नू कपूर ने बॉलीवुड में अपने शानदार अभिनय की बदौलत अलग पहचान बनाई है. साथ ही टेलीविजन की दुनिया में भी अन्नू कपूर का रुतबा कमाल का है.

UK PM Dismisses Conservative Party Chairman After Tax Probe
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Sunday fired Conservative party chairman Nadhim Zahawi after an inquiry into Zahawi's tax affairs found a "serious breach" of ministerial rules, the government said.
"As a result, I have informed you of my decision to remove you from your position in His Majesty's Government," Sunak wrote in a publicly released letter to his Iraqi-born ally, following a scandal that cast doubt on the premier's own judgement and vows of integrity.
The government also released the inquiry report by Sunak's newly appointed independent ethics advisor, Laurie Magnus.
Magnus pulled no punches in finding that Zahawi effectively lied to successive Conservative leaders when he came under investigation by the UK's tax authority, which led to the politician handing over a fine for late payment reportedly worth £5 million ($6.2 million).
Zahawi gave shifting explanations in the affair, and initially tried to silence journalists and a tax consultant with threats of libel lawsuits.
Sunak's decision to dismiss Zahawi, rather than invite him to resign with some saving of face, underlined the serious political stakes at play at a time when millions of Britons are struggling to pay the bills.
Sunak appointed Zahawi as Conservative party chairman, and cabinet minister without portfolio, when he entered 10 Downing Street in October, when he vowed to deliver "integrity, professionalism and accountability at every level".
Zahawi was previously in the cabinet under both Liz Truss and Boris Johnson -- who appointed him as chancellor of the exchequer, in ultimate charge of the UK tax agency.
The opposition Labour party said Sunak should have fired Zahawi immediately when the allegations emerged in newspaper reports this month, rather than seeking to buy time by asking Magnus to investigate.
The scandal underlined that Sunak was a "weak" prime minister, senior Labour MP Bridget Phillipson told Sky News.
"The stench of sleaze just hangs around the Conservative party," she said.
Sunak has faced questions himself about his family's tax affairs after it emerged that his wife Akshata Murty had for years enjoyed "non-domicile" status, which shielded her from paying UK taxes on her overseas income from her family's Infosys business group.
And last week he apologised for receiving his second police fine, after he was filmed not wearing a seatbelt in the back seat of a moving car.
As chancellor himself under Johnson, Sunak was fined along with the then prime minister for attending an illegal workplace party during a Covid lockdown.
The "partygate" scandal was one of several that brought down Johnson.
Sunak's vows of integrity were in sharp contrast to that record, but he remains stalked by his predecessor's dealings in government.
A separate probe is underway into reports that just before he was made chairman of the BBC by Johnson, former banker Richard Sharp was involved in securing a private credit line for up to £800,000 ($990,000) for the then-PM from a Canadian businessman.

"Appropriate Age For Motherhood Is 22 To 30 Years": Assam Chief Minister
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said women should embrace motherhood at the "appropriate age" as it otherwise leads to medical complications. Speaking at a government function here, Mr Sarma iterated his government's commitment to stop underage marriages and motherhood.
His comments come in the backdrop of the state government deciding to bring stringent laws and evoking the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act to check child marriages and underage motherhood.
"Thousands of husbands will be arrested in the next five-six months as it is a crime to have sexual relations with a girl below 14 years of age, even if he is her legally wed husband," Mr Sarma said.
The legal age for the marriage of a woman is 18 years and those who marry younger girls will also be brought to book. "Many (men who marry girls) could face life imprisonment," he said.
Speaking about motherhood, Mr Sarma said, "Women should not wait too long to become mothers as it leads to complications. The appropriate age for motherhood is 22 years to 30 years".
Women who have not married yet should do it soon, he said with a smile.
"We have been speaking against early motherhood. But at the same time, women should not wait too long either as many do ... God has created our bodies in a manner that there is an appropriate age for everything," he added.
The Assam cabinet on Monday decided to book men who marry girls below 14 years of age under the POCSO Act. Those who marry girls in the age group of 14-18 years will be tried under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006.
The decision was taken to curb the high rate of maternal and infant mortality in the state, whose primary cause is child marriage, Sarma had said after the cabinet meeting.
An average of 31 per cent of the marriages in the state are in the prohibited age group, he said.

US Plans To Process "Record" Number Of Visas For Indians In 2023: Official
The US embassy and its consulates in India plan to process a "record" number of visas for Indians this year, Mumbai Consular Chief John Ballard said, in view of delays and a backlog in almost every visa category.
Currently, the wait time for Indians applying for work visas ranges from 60-280 days, while for travellers, it is around one and a half years.
The external affairs ministry has raised the issue of visa delays with US authorities on several occasions as well as matters related to further ease issuing of visas for all categories of Indian travellers.
The embassy adjudicated over 1,25,000 student visas last year, a record number for Indians, and expects even more Indian students to apply for visas this year, Ballard said.
The US official also told PTI that the embassy has almost reached its pre-pandemic levels of visa processing, and expects to surpass those levels in this year.
"Last year, we adjudicated over 8,00,000 total visa adjudications and we are almost up to our pre-pandemic levels, which we expect to surpass in 2023," Ballard said.
The only category in which the embassy is looking to reduce the backlog is for first-time B1 and B2 tourist and business travel visas, he said.
"We recently opened up 2.5 lakh of B1/B2 visa appointments throughout India and we have dozens of officers, who have come from embassies around the world and Washington DC, specifically to help us to conduct interviews for first-time B1/B2 applicants," the Mumbai consular chief said.
In addition, for visa renewals, applicants can now send their application by e-mail, and the embassy has arranged for embassies around the world to adjudicate those cases, allowing them to focus on conducting interviews for first-time applicants, he said.
Ballard said that "adjudications are just part of the many initiatives that we are currently undertaking to help reduce the backlog for visa wait times." "Every post within the mission, all of our consulates were recently open on a Saturday and we'll do it again in February and in March, and we will also be fully staffed by the end of the summer. So we would look to do even more initiatives, moving forward to find ways to reduce the backlog for wait times. We expect to process record number of visa this year with these initiatives," he said.
He was asked about the delays and backlogs in different categories of views.
Ballard emphasised that issuances and refusals for any visa category depend on the individual applicant and the category of visa they are applying for.
"B1/B2 visa applicants must be able to demonstrate the purpose of their travel to the US and their ties to India that would ensure their return," the official said.

BharatPe Reveals Founder Ashneer Grover's Salary. It Was...
The salary of top executives of BharatPe, including its founder Ashneer Grover and his wife Madhuri Jain Grover, has been revealed after a regulatory filing by the fintech startup. The ex-Shark Tank India judge earned Rs 1.69 crore in FY22 while his wife, who was BharatPe's head of controls, took home a salary of Rs 63 lakh, according to Moneycontrol.
The filings showed that the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BharatPe, Suhail Sameer, took home Rs 2.1 crore in FY22 and co-founder Shashvat Nakrani earned Rs 29.8 lakh during the same period. Board member Kewal Handa and chairman Rajnish Kumar, the former State Bank of India chief, were paid Rs 36 lakh and Rs 21.4 lakh, respectively, the report added.
The disclosed salaries of these executives, however, do not include the share-based payment made to them. According to the company's financials, it spent Rs 70 crore in share-based payments in FY22, which was an increase of 218% from the previous year, the report stated.
BharatPe sacked Ashneer Grover and his wife last year in March for alleged financial irregularities. The founder had resigned from the company and its board days later. The fintech company, in December 2022, filed a criminal lawsuit against Ashneer Grover and his family seeking Rs 88.67 in damages. It accused the founder of cheating and embezzling funds.
Suhail Sameer stepped down as CEO of BharatPe earlier this month. A statement by BharatPe said that he will “transition from chief executive officer to strategic advisor effective January 7, 2023”. He said last year that BharatPe did not have enough money to pay salaries to its employees as Ashneer Grover stole all.
Last week, the Delhi High Court issued summons to Ashneer Grover on a suit by BharatPe's co-founder Bhavik Koladiya who wants to reclaim the shares he transferred to Mr Grover.

LIC Scheme: रिटायरमेंट की टेंशन छोड़िए...अब इस स्कीम में निवेश कर हर महीने पाइए फिक्स्ड पेंशन
जीवन बीमा निगम (Life Insurance Corporation) यानी एलआईसी (LIC) अपने ग्राहकों को कई खास पॉलिसी ऑफर करती है. ऐसे तो बाजार में कई तरह के निवेश विकल्प मौजूद हैं. लेकिन अक्सर हम कम जोखिम और कम समय में भारी मुनाफे वाले प्लान की तलाश में रहते हैं. इसके लिए एलआईसी स्कीम (LIC Scheme) में निवेश करना एक बेस्ट ऑप्शन माना जाता है. आज हम आपको एलआईसी की एक ऐसी स्कीम के बारे में बताने जा रहे हैं जो आपको कम समय के निवेश में अधिक मुनाफा देगा. इस स्कीम का नाम न्यू जीवन शांति योजना (LIC New Jeevan Shanti Plan) है. इस स्कीम में निवेश करके आप रिटायरमेंट (Retirement Plan) के बाद अपने खर्चे को लेकर टेंशन-फ्री हो सकते हैं. यह ये स्कीम आपके लिए काफी फायदेमंद साबित हो सकती है.
एलआईसी न्यू जीवन शांति योजना (LIC New Jeevan Shanti Scheme) एक तरह का एन्युटी प्लान है. इसका मतलब ये है कि इस प्लान में निवेश करते समय आपकी पेंशन की राशि फिक्स्ड हो जाएगी. जिसके बाद आपको हर महीने पेंशन की सुविधा मिलेगी. अब इस प्लान के तहत पॉलिसीधारकों को ज्यादा एन्युटी मिल पाएगी, क्योंकि एलआईसी ने न्यू जीवन शांति प्लान के ब्याज दरों में बदलाव किया है. इस बदलाव के तहत इस योजना में 5 जनवरी से निवेश शुरू करने वाले नए पॉलिसीधारकों को अब अधिक ब्याज का फायदा मिलेगा. इसमें निवेश करने पर न सिर्फ पॉलिसीहोल्डर बल्कि उसके परिवार को भी योजना का लाभ दिया जाता है.
इसके साथ ही एलआईसी ने इस योजना के लिए परचेज प्राइस को भी बढ़ाने का फैसला किया है. इसके तहत अब पॉलिसीहोल्डर्स1000 रुपये के परचेज प्राइस पर 3 से 9.7 9.75 रुपये तक का इंसेंटिव प्राप्त कर सकते हैं. हालांकि, पॉलिसीहोल्डर्स को मिलने वाला यह इंसेंटिव उनके परचेज प्राइस और स्कीम के पीरियड के आधार पर तय किया जाएगा.
न्यू जीवन शांति स्कीम में निवेश की न्यूनतम सीमा 1.5 लाख रुपये हैं. जबकि इसमें अधिकतम निवेश की कोई सीमा नहीं है. आप अपनी जरूरत और निवेश की इच्छा के अनुसार इस स्कीम में निवेश कर सकते हैं. इसमें आप मासिक, तिमाही, छमाही या सलाना आधान पर पेंशन (Pension Scheme) पा सकते हैं. इसमें आपको हर साल 12,000 का मिनिमम रिटर्न मिलता है. मान लीजिए कि आपने इस न्यू जीवन शांति योजना में 1.5 लाख रुपए का निवेश किया है तो ऐसे में आपको 1000 रुपये का मासिक पेंशन मिल सकता है. इस तरह देखा जाए तो सालाना आधार पर आपको 12000 रुपये का पेंशन मिलता है.
अगर आप इस योजना में निवेश करते हैं तो आपको लोन की सुविधा दी जाती है. आप इस योजना में निवेश करने के तुरंत बाद या फिर 1 से 20 साल के बीच कभी भी पेंशन लेना शुरू कर सकते हैं. इस योजना में निवेश का लाभ अपके परिवार को भी मिल सकता है. जीवन शांति योजना में निवेश करने के 3 महीने के बाद आप किसी भी समय यह स्कीम सरेंडर कर सकते हैं. इसके लिए किसी भी मेडिकल डॉक्यूमेंट की जरूरत नहीं पड़ती है. इस स्कीम को ऑफलाइन और ऑनलाइन दोनों माध्यम से खरीदा जा सकता है.
यह प्लान खासकर उन लोगों के लिए बेहतर हो सकता है, जो अपने करियर के शुरुआती दौर में ही निवेश करना चाहते हैं ताकि रिटायरमेंट के बाद उनका भविष्य सुरक्षित हो सके.
