Biotin Effects: बालों को लंबा करने और झड़ने से रोकने के लिए खा रहे हैं बायोटिन कैप्‍सूल? जान लें इसके फायदे, नुकसान और एक दिन की डोज

Side Effects of Biotin:

Benefits of Biotin

Disadvantages of Biotin deficiency

Christ's Picture At Home Doesn't Mean Person Has Converted: High Court

Merely having a picture of Jesus Christ in a house does not mean that a person has converted to Christianity, the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court has said.

A division bench of Justices Prithviraj Chavan and Urmila Joshi Phalke on October 10 allowed a petition filed by a 17-year-old girl challenging a September 2022 order passed by the Amravati District Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committee invalidating her caste as 'Mahar'.

The report of the vigilance officer (of the committee) needs to be discarded at the threshold as it is clear that the petitioner's family follows the tradition of Buddhism, it said.

The decision invalidating her caste claim was taken after the committee's vigilance cell conducted an inquiry and found that the petitioner's father and grandfather had converted to Christianity and a picture of Jesus Christ was found displayed in their home.

Since, they converted to Christianity, they are included in the category of Other Backward Classes, the committee had said.

The petitioner girl claimed the picture of Jesus Christ was gifted to them by someone and they had just displayed it in their house.

The high court bench in its order noted there was absolutely no shred of evidence found by the vigilance cell during inquiry that either the grandfather, father or the petitioner had undergone baptism in order to buttress the committee's contention that the petitioner's family had converted to Christianity.

"No sane man will accept or believe that merely because there is a picture of Jesus Christ in the house would ipso facto mean that a person had converted himself into Christianity," the court said.

"Baptism is a Christian sacrament by which one is received in Church and sometimes given a name, generally involving the candidate is to be anointed with or submerged in water," it said.

Merely because the vigilance cell officer, during his visit to the house of the petitioner, noticed a picture of Lord Jesus Christ, he assumed the petitioner's family professes Christian religion, the high court said.

The report of the vigilance officer needs to be discarded at the threshold as it is clear that the petitioner's family follows the tradition of Buddhism, it said.

The petitioner relied on the 'Mahar' caste certificates issued in the past to her father, grandfather and other blood relations.

She had also submitted a pre-constitutional document, an extract of a book, in order to substantiate her claim of belonging to 'Mahar', which is a scheduled caste.

The bench said the committee had rendered the pre-constitutional document "otiose".

"What more proof was required to be considered by the Committee who appears to have turned a Nelson's eye to this glaring document apart from three validity certificates which have already been granted by it in favour of blood relatives of the petitioner," the high court said.

The bench quashed the scrutiny committee's order and directed it to issue a caste validity certificate to the petitioner as belonging to 'Mahar' (Scheduled Caste) within a period of two weeks.

Review: Kaala Paani - Well-Acted, Wonderfully Crafted Drama

Life-and-death dilemmas collide with death and disease in the once-pristine Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the genre-bending, visually arresting Kaala Paani. The Netflix series, created by Sameer Saxena, addresses a slew of urgent themes and dovetails them into an overarching story of a populace in the grip of a deadly epidemic.

Even as the administration strives to strike a balance between what is necessary and what is morally permissible to tackle the emergency, a multinational company and its agents pursue a single-point agenda of making a killing from an officially sanctioned water pipeline project.

Water is indeed the visual and thematic leitmotif of Kaala Paani, hardly surprising for a tale that unfolds in a part of India that is walled in by the ocean on all sides. Its contamination mirrors the toxicity that has seeped into the air and the land that make up the islands.

The moral conundrums that the medical fraternity and the Lieutenant-Governor's office face pertain to the pressing need to save the infected population, prevent the disease from spreading, control the movement of people, and adopt measures to minimize the impact of panic reactions.

Set in the near future but spanning multiple decades with flashbacks setting the context and snatches of dialogue alluding to hoary times, Kaala Paani, written by Biswapati Sarkar and directed by Saxena and Amit Golani, abounds in thrills, tragic turns of events and individuals weighed down by the past.

The year is 2027. The Covid-19 pandemic is still fresh in the minds of people. The Kaala Paani storyline looks beyond disease and devastation and blends fiction and truth to delve into the reasons behind the public health crisis - deforestation, threats posed to an endangered indigenous community, industry-government nexus and corruption at various levels of the local administration.

A sense of dread and gloom pervades the islands as Leptospiral Hemorrhagic Fever (LHF-27) turns rampant. Citizens and medical professionals are up against an enemy that is invisible, Nature, which has borne the brunt of mankind's greed for centuries and is now striking back. The seven-episode series derives strength from the ethical, psychological and environmental questions that it raises.

A Panchatantra story about a frog and a scorpion is used to underline the nature of goodness and dishonesty in present times. The "trolley problem" thought experiment alludes to the situation on the ground - the administration is in a make-or-break moral quandary. Is it fine to sacrifice one person in order to save thousands?

Kaala Paani situates numerous significant stories, contemporary and historical, in the collective and the personal in search of an answer to that question.

The Kaala Paani cast is led by Mona Singh and Ashutosh Gowariker but it is Sukant Goel, playing a Port Blair taxi operator, who hogs the lion's share of the spotlight. The gifted actor does full justice to a strong author-backed role that allows him to mine a wide range of emotions, from the frothy and flippant to the intense and unsettling.

Also impressive are the key supporting actors, each playing a character with a past marred by trauma and unpleasant experiences that take some doing to live down. From violence to toxic masculinity and social ostracism to professional hurdles, these individuals have been though a lot and what they encounter during the epidemic is an opportunity for them to redeem themselves.

Vikas Kumar plays Santosh Savla, a tourist from Bokaro who has travelled to Andaman and Nicobar Islands with his wife and two children to attend a tourist festival. The man, benign and soft-hearted, banks upon his wife Gargi (Sarika Singh) to be the family's pillar of strength through thick and thin. In a severe crisis situation, Santosh has to dig deep into his reserves of endurance as he is buffeted by separation, loss and bereavement.

Arushi Sharma is Jyotsna Dey, an aspiring nurse who has abandoned her ambition following a violent incident in Pune that has singed her for good. Her shot at redemption rests on ensuring the safety of two children separated from their parents.

Radhika Mehrotra plays medical intern Ritu Gagra, who joins the team of Dr Soudamini Singh (Mona Singh), a grouchy, cynical but exceptionally committed professional who lives with a German Shepherd aptly called Mister, as the latter's hospital faces a severe staff shortage in the face of the health crisis.

Amey Wagh delivers an energetic but delightfully layered performance as police officer Ketan Kamat, a man given to fishing in troubled waters and saving his own skin come what may. And Chinmay Mandlekar gets into the skin of a doctor under understandable duress aggravated by a tragedy that hits the hospital.

A major tourist festival is a couple of days away and thousands of visitors have arrived in Port Blair. Panic spreads as word gets around that a mysterious killer disease has descended on the islands.

The administration, led by Admiral Zibran Qadri (Asuthosh Gowariker), the central hospital under Dr Soudamini Singh's charge, individuals like Chiranjeevi (Sukant Goel) whose livelihood depends on the influx of tourists and infected locals and several outsiders are sucked into the maelstrom.

The crisis is, of course, not directly of the tourists' making. The plunder of tribal land and unsustainable development models have pushed the scenic islands to the brink. A multi-billion-dollar MNC, with the connivance of elements in the bureaucracy and the police, seeks to extend its hold on the land the forests stand on and the people that the forests belong to.

The struggle to save lives coincides with the race to find the cause of the epidemic and a cure. The narrative revolves around the fate on endangered indigenous community that has lives in the forest for 60,000 years.

Kaala Paani is a well-acted, wonderfully crafted and consistently watchable drama the skirts around the pitfalls of a multi-pronged narrative. It devises ways not to let one thematic idea get in the way of another. All the strands come together neatly and with exceptional clarity.

The cautionary tale does the tightrope walk between the depiction of an epidemic and its fallout and the placement of it in a larger ecological context with skill and balance. A series that has much to show for its efforts.

AirAsia CEO Sits Shirtless In Meeting While Getting Massage, Draws Criticism

AirAsia Chief Executive Officer Tony Fernandes took to the networking platform LinkedIn to appreciate the work culture of his company which allows him to get a massage and attend a management meeting together. He also shared a picture of himself sitting shirtless in a conference room attending a meeting while getting a massage. However, his post has drawn criticism from a lot of people on the internet who said that it seemed "inappropriate".

In the caption, he wrote, "Was a stressful week and Veranita Yosephine suggested a massage. Got to love Indonesia and AirAsia culture that I Can have a massage and do a management meeting."

"We are making big progress and I have now finalized Capital A structure. Exciting days ahead. Proud of what we have built and never have lost sight of the finish," he added.

Since being shared on the platform, the post has amassed 576 likes and several comments.

"A grown man, who is the chief executive of a publicly listed company, conducts a management meeting with his shirt off as he gets a massage. Remove "who is the chief executive of a publicly listed company" and it is still inappropriate," a user said.

A second person added, "Work at AirAsia, where meetings are as gross as our passenger experience. You have managed to capture everything from inappropriate entitlement to exemplary C Suite tone deafness in a single image. Bravo!"

"I'm going to assume that this meeting took place long after the workday was over and most of the office was empty (except a few C-level), but at least put on a shirt for the photo.," commented another person.

"I hope not but I think someone hacked into his LI and wrote this," remarked a user.

"Yea, maybe this isn't the best way to show off work culture? Don't think you are giving the intended impression you hoped it would," said another user.

A sixth person said, "Tony when you said Air Asia had an open culture I didn't expect it to be THIS open... "

A few users also lauded the CEO for "impressive work".

"Love this boss!!" said a person.

"My favourite post on LinkedIn. Looking forward to you posting more of your day to day office life," a LinkedIn user added.

Her death sent shockwaves through Uruguay and around the world. "Fly high, little sister. Always and forever," her brother, Mayk' De Armas, said on social media. Miss Universe Uruguay 2022 Carla Romero, mourned that Ms De Armas was "too evolved for this world. One of the most beautiful women I have ever met in my life."

The 26-year-old was not in the top 30 at the 2015 Miss World contest organised in China. However, she was "one of the only six 18-year-olds to compete" in the pageant.

In an interview with NetUruguay at that time, she said. "I always wanted to be a model, whether a beauty model, an advertising model or a catwalk model. I like everything related to fashion and I think that within a beauty pageant, any girl's dream is to have the opportunity to participate in Miss Universe. I am very happy to be able to live this experience full of challenges."

She had also launched her make-up line and sold products related to hair and personal care known as Shey de Armas Studio. The model also devoted her time to the Perez Scremini Foundation, which treats children with cancer.

Explained: 'Silent Walking' Trend And Why It's Taking The Internet By Storm

It is a well-known fact that Gen Z has become a trendsetting group. From 'quiet quitting' to 'bare minimum Mondays', we have come across several of these trends in the last year. Now, another fad gaining a lot of attention on social media is 'silent walking'. It simply means going on a stroll without phones or listening to music, podcasts, or any other technological distraction, as per News.com.au.

Mady Maio, a podcaster, claims credit for "unintentionally starting a movement" that would "change your life." In a TikTok video, she recounts that it was her partner who initially encouraged her to go on a stroll without any distractions. "There will be no AirPods, podcasts, or music. It's just me, myself, and I," she says in the video, which has almost five lakh views.

She added that she was extremely hesitant at first. "And at first I was like f*** no, my anxiety could never - which is probably what you're thinking - but something within me was like let me just try it," she said.

Ms Maio described her first two minutes of walking as "mayhem," until she reached a "flow state," when "suddenly you can... hear yourself." "Look, the universe and your intuition comes to you through whispers, so if you're never alone with your thoughts and you never get quiet you're gonna miss the whispers. And those whispers are the most important to be paying attention to," she added.

Ms Maio claimed that silent walking provided her with the "clarity" she had been seeking. She continued, "The brain fog lifted, suddenly all these ideas are flowing into me because I'm giving them space to enter. Look, if I can do it, you can do it. I promise, just try it out. ... Give yourself the gift of getting quiet and listening to those whispers. I feel like when I walk in silence, my senses are on high alert. I smell everything, I hear everything, I am seeing everything, and it's so grounding for me," she said.

It is to be noted that the trend was invented by New York City influencer Arielle Lorre, who also promoted the benefits of silent walking on her podcast in April. However, it has now become popular after Ms Maio's reel went viral on the internet. A lot of people found the trend very interesting but some found it hard to understand that the younger generation finds walking without a phone so innovative.

Is this real? This is just walking ... like how people did it before technology," one person wrote.

Another user added, "Gen Z just discovered walking."

"What I don't understand is how you can look at someone walking with no technology and go holy s***, what are they doing? That's a new method. I haven't seen this before," a person wrote.
