Former Indian cricket team batter Gautam Gambhir has been a big follower of healthy lifestyle and over the years, he has openly talked about his strict diet and fitness regime. The left-hander once again reiterated his commitment to a heavy lifestyle while answering a question from a fan on social media. During a Q&A session on X (formerly known as Twitter), a fan enquired about the secret behind Gambhir's sharp memory and he was quick to respond - "Healthy boring diet. No alcohol, no smoking".

Meanwhile, India's dream of winning a Test series in South Africa for the first time was ended inside three days as they crashed to an innings and 32 runs defeat at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Thursday.

With the series consisting of only two matches they can at best earn a share of the honours if they win the second Test starting in Cape Town on Wednesday.

India had no answer to South Africa's pace attack as they crashed to 131 all out in their second innings, after conceding a 163-run first innings lead.

A day which started with the match evenly poised turned into a rout for the tourists.

Dean Elgar (185) and Marco Jansen (84 not out) transformed a slender 11-run lead for South Africa at the start of play into a strong position. 

They shared a 111-run sixth wicket partnership as South Africa took an overnight 256 for five to 408 all out despite the absent of injured captain Temba Bavuma.

Virat Kohli hit an aggressive 76 for India before he was last man out but the rest of the batting collapsed against South Africa's fast bowlers on a lively pitch.

The second innings lasted just 34.1 overs. Kohli hit 12 fours and a six in an 82-ball innings. Shubman Gill made 26 but no other batsman scored more than six.

Woman Finds Worm In Sandwich On IndiGo Flight. Airline Responds

IndiGo Airlines on Saturday apologised to a woman who allegedly found a worm in her sandwich served to her on a Delhi-Mumbai bound flight.

In a post shared on Instagram, the passenger wrote, "I will lodge an official complaint via email soon. But as a Public Health professional I want to know despite of knowing the quality of the sandwich was not good and informing the Flight attendant prior she still continued to serve sandwiches to other passengers. There were kids, elderly and other passengers .... What if anyone catches infection."

She further added that she does not need any compensation or refund, adding "Just one assurance that passenger health and safety should be your top priority."

However, IndiGo in a statement, apologised to the woman and said that the matter is currently under investigation.

"We are aware of a concern raised by one of our customers regarding their experience on flight 6E 6107 from Delhi to Mumbai. We want to emphasize our unwavering commitment to maintain the highest standards of food and beverage service on board. Upon investigation, our crew had immediately ceased the service of the specific sandwich in question," the statement read.

"The matter is currently under thorough examination, and we are working closely with our caterer to ensure appropriate corrective measures are taken. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to the passenger," it added.

X-37B Launched: All About US Military's Secretive Spaceplane

The Falcon Heavy rocket of SpaceX, the company owned by billionaire Elon Musk, on Thursday launched a US military plane that has generated a lot of interest among the space community in recent years. The X-37B has gone to space without any crew and will carry out cutting-edge research, according to CNN. It is not known exactly where the spaceplane is going. The secretive plane has already spent 3,774 days in orbit across six prior missions, with the last one lasting a record 908 days.

What is known about X-37B?

The plane has always been under a veil of secrecy. With Thursday's launch, the X-37B has been to the space for seven times.

The spaceplane resembles a miniature NASA space shuttle with the windows blacked out. The X-37B has been known to carry out research on concepts such as relaying solar energy from space for use back on Earth and studying the effects of radiation on seeds used to grow food, according to CNN.

The launch came two weeks after China's own robot spaceplane, known as the Shenlong, or "Divine Dragon", was launched on its third mission to orbit since 2020, according to news agency Reuters.

The X-37B has been built by Boeing and is roughly the size of a small bus. At the end of its mission, the craft descends back through the atmosphere to land on a runway much like an airplane.

What does the use of Falcon Heavy rocket signify?

Paul Graziani, CEO of COMSPOC, a company dedicated to tracking objects in space, told CNN that the use of one of the most powerful rockets in the world could mean the spaceplane will take payloads farther in space.

"If the military doesn't want people to track the X-37B, the vehicle can be hidden in the glare of the sun or by various other means - including changing its position often," added Mr Graziani.

"I think it's one of the most interesting things that's happened in space in a long time, whatever it's going to do," said the expert.

There is speculation that the spaceplane is heading towards geosynchronous orbit, which lies about 22,400 miles (36,000 kilometres) from Earth.

What's on board the X-37B?

CNN said that US space agency NASA has sent research that aims to find ways to sustain astronauts on future deep-space missions. Called Seeds-2, it will "expose plant seeds to the harsh radiation environment of long-duration spaceflight" and build on research carried out on previous X-37B missions.

The ability to cultivate crops in space has major implications for keeping astronauts nourished during future long-term missions to the moon and Mars.

The planned duration of the latest X-37B mission was not made public, but it will presumably run until June 2026 or later, given the prevailing pattern of successively longer flights.

UP Man "Forcibly" Converted, Made To Marry Muslim Woman, Claims His Wife

Police here have lodged an FIR after a revenue officer's wife alleged that he was forcibly converted to Islam and made to marry a Muslim woman, officials said on Wednesday.

Arti Gupta went to the police when she learnt about the "wedding" through social media as her husband Ashish Kumar Gupta -- a naib tehsildar posted in Maudaha tehsil of Hamirpur -- had not come home for almost four months.

According to police, Ashish Kumar Gupta has so far not been traced.

In her complaint lodged at the City Kotwali Police Station, Arti Gupta, a resident of Kanpur city, said her husband was "forcibly" converted to Islam and made to marry a Muslim woman named Rukhsaar, police said.

A a case was registered against five people, including the Naib Tehsildar, and around six unidentified people. Two of them, including a maulvi at a local masque in Maudaha, have been detained, police said.

Arti Gupta told police that her husband was having an affair with Rukhsaar.

Rukhsar's father, one Munna, Maulvi Babu Aadhati of a local mosque in Maudaha and four to five others "forcibly" converted Ashish Gupta on December 24 and got him married to the woman, she alleged in the complaint.

Police said a case has been registered against Ashish Gupta, Rukhsaar, her father, Munna, Aadhati and five to six unidentified people under section 494 (marrying again during lifetime of husband or wife) of the Indian Penal Code and the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act.

After registering the case, the accused maulvi and Munna have been taken into custody and are being interrogated, they said.

According to some locals, Ashish Gupta would also offer namaz in a mosque in Maudaha.

The caretaker of the mosque, Muhammad Mushtaq, said Ashish Gupta identified himself as Mohammad Yusuf. Later, when he revealed that he was the naib tehsildar of Maudaha and a resident of Kanpur, the caretaker informed the authorities.

Maudaha Tehsildar Balram Gupta, however, said the reports of the naib tehsildar offering namaz could not be verified.

The statements of local people in Maudaha were recorded as part of the investigation. The claims of Ashish Gupta offering namaz in a mosque could not be verified, Balram Gupta said.

"Left College, Made Tea..": Abhishek On Family's Financial Rough Patch

Abhishek Bachchan recently opened up about the "rough time" his family faced before his Bollywood debut. Abhishek made his big screen debut with the 2000 film, Refugee. The JP Dutta directorial also marked Kareena Kapoor's debut. In a roundtable discussion with Galatta Plus, Abhishek said, "I left my college and came back. My father (Amitabh Bachchan) was going through a bit of a rough time financially. He had opened a company which had racked up a lot of losses. So I said, ‘I need to be around my father.'" Abhishek then talked about how he even worked as a production boy for Gautam Berry and made tea on the set. Abhishek, who always aspired to be an actor, added that no director was ready to take on the responsibility of launching Amitabh Bachchan's son. 

Abhishek Bachchan also revealed how he and his friend, Rakesh Mehra, decided to take matters into their own hands and wrote a script, which was ultimately rejected by Amitabh Bachchan. 

Talking about the financial crisis, Abhishek Bachchan shared, “Filmfare, 20 years ago, you planned like months in advance ki kya pehen ke jayenge [ That what you will wear.] Make sure you aren't shooting that day…Khareedna padta tha, un dino me koi deta nahi tha kapde [One had to purchase, and no one sent clothes those days.] It was a big thing. The entire industry showed up. Filmfare and screen were the only big awards then, before this plethora of awards. It was an occasion. It was a huge honour. I said, ‘What to wear?' I know it sounds weird. I didn't have that many clothes, and we couldn't afford to. We were going through a rough time, and trying to be as frugal as you could be.”

“I didn't know what to wear. I didn't think it was prudent to show up in jeans and a T-shirt. So, the sherwani that was made for my sister's (Shweta Bachchan) wedding a couple of years earlier, I wore that and I went,” Abhishek Bachchan added.

Abhishek Bachchan then recalled that JP Dutta won the Best Director award for Border that year. As he was walking down the stage, he spotted Abhishek sitting alongside Amitabh Bachchan. Two days later, JP Dutta offered Abhishek his first film.

After Refugee, Abhishek Bachchan featured in Bunty Aur Babli, Dhoom, Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, and Delhi 6. His latest appearance was in Ghoomer alongside Saiyami Kher.

Boxing Day Test: Rohit Explains Reason Behind Jadeja's Absence

The senior pros like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah marked their on-field return as the Indian cricket team took on South Africa in the first Test of te 2-match series in Centurion. However, as skipper Rohit Sharma announced the playing XI for the match, there was no mention of all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Ravichandran Ashwin and Shardul Thakur both found places in the team but Jadeja's name was absent. It was then revealed that the left-arm spinner couldn't feature in the XI because of an injury problem.

"Ravindra Jadeja complained of upper back spasms on the morning of the match. He was not available for selection for the first Test," the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed ahead of the start of the match.

India captain Rohit, at the time of toss, admitted that he wasn't sure whether to bat first on the wicket or bowl first. Hence, was happy to have lost the toss.

"Wasn't too sure (on batting or bowling). We are quite aware of the conditions, we have been here a few times. We need to put runs on the board and the bowlers will do the job for us. We do understand the challenge of batting first with the overhead conditions and the grass, but the guys are up for the challenge. Everytime we come here, we come with high hopes. We've come close in the last 2 tours. We are pretty confident with our squad and the make-up of our squad," he said.

Speaking of his team's composition, Rohit confirmed the absence of Jadeja due to back spasms.

"We are playing with four seamers and a spinner. Ashwin is playing in place of Jadeja. Jaddu had a bit of a back spasm, so Ashwin comes in and he is a quality spinner to have. Prasidh is making his debut, along with the other pacers Shardul, Siraj and Bumrah," he said.

US Man Kills Wife Before Turning Gun On Himself

On Tuesday, a man from Pennsylvania fatally shot his wife before taking his own life, leaving their five children without parents just five days before Christmas. The tragic incident occurred during an argument between Blase, 39, and Brooke Raia, 34, in their Greenwood residence's basement around 7 p.m., according to Logan Township Police Chief Dave Hoover as reported by the Altoona Mirror.

He fatally shot her in the head before turning the gun on himself, police said. The apparent murder-suicide took place while the four younger children were at home. Only half an hour after the tragic incident, the eldest child returned from work and discovered the bodies of their parents, as detailed by Hoover. The children, named Blakely (daughter), Blase Jr., Brennan, Kamden, and Easton according to Blase's obituary, were interviewed and subsequently entrusted to the care of other family members.

He was a nice guy, a good worker," Jim Patterson, a retired employee, told the outlet. "He seemed well-liked by his fellow workers."

Candy Holliday, a family friend and neighbor of Blase, is raising funds for his funeral and mentioned that he "cherished his children more than anything in this world." Hoover mentioned that Brooke Raia was employed at a nearby chiropractic office. Her obituary also indicated that she had worked at the Amazon warehouse in Altoona.

The couple, who tied the knot in 2022 as per Blase's obituary, were deeply engaged in the world of racing. Brooke Raia's father gained prominence as a motorcycle racer and later served as an announcer at a local speedway. Meanwhile, Blase pursued drag racing as a hobby.

In the aftermath of their tragic loss, the racing community has come together to support the bereaved children, managing to raise over $56,000 for them.

Donny Algieri, the fundraiser, expressed, "While I understand that Christmas is likely the furthest thing from their minds, they truly deserve our backing. It's crucial for them to realize that both the racing community and their family are standing firmly behind them."

Wrestler Virender Singh has given support to fellow athlete Sakshee Malikkh, who announced she is quitting the sport after an aide of former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh succeeded him in the top post.

Ms Malikkh and other athletes have accused Brij Bhushan of sexual harassment.

"I will also return the Padma Shri for my sister and the country's daughter, Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi  ji, I am proud of your daughter and my sister Sakshee Malikkh... But I would also request the top players of the country to also give their decision," Virender Singh, who identifies himself as the 'Goonga Pahalwan', said in a post on X, tagging Sachin Tendulkar and Neeraj Chopra.

Virender Singh's post comes a day after another top wrestler, Bajrang Punia, on Friday said he has written a letter to PM Modi and will return the Padma Shri given to him.

After making an announcement on X, the Olympic medal-winning wrestler reached central Delhi's Kartavya Path on Friday evening and kept the Padma Shri medallion on a footpath there. It was later picked up by the police.

"When the women wrestlers are not given due respect, I do not deserve this honour either. We were on the road for 40 days, but the promises made by the government have not been fulfilled. Our fight is not against the government, but against an individual. I believe in the judiciary but, with what is happening, I can't keep faith in the system," Mr Punia told reporters on Friday.

Vijender Singh, India's first boxer to win an Olympics medal, also announced his support to Ms Malikkh yesterday. "The parents of the daughters would be concerned that if an Olympic medallist is not given justice, how will we get it? The PM, Vice President, and President all should come and answer why this happened... This raises a lot of questions on the justice system and the democratic structure," Vijender Singh said.

The new WFI boss Sanjay Singh is a longtime aide of Brij Bhushan, who was WFI chief for 12 years. A six-time BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh, Brij Bhushan had to step aside after top wrestlers, including Ms Malikkh, accused him of sexually harassing women wrestlers.

Breaking into tears during an interaction with the media two days ago, Commonwealth and Asian Games Gold medallist Vinesh Phogat alleged with Sanjay Singh heading the WFI, women wrestlers will continue to face harassment.

In January this year, three wrestlers led a huge protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, demanding action against Brij Bhushan.

They called off the protest after the government ordered a probe. The wrestlers were also assured that no aide or relative of Brij Bhushan would be allowed to contest the next polls of the wrestling body.

While Brij Bhushan's son Prateek and son-in-law Vishal Singh did not enter the contest, his aide Sanjay Singh's nomination was cleared.

Hardik Pandya, New MI Captain, May Miss IPL 2024 Due To Injury: Sources

Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya could miss the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to an ankle injury, NDTV sources confirmed on Saturday. This comes after Hardik was traded to Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans ahead of the IPL players auction. The players was initially named in the retention list by GT, but was traded to MI ahead of the auction as part of an all-cash deal. NDTV sources have confirmed that Hardik will miss the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan, while his participation in the upcoming season of IPL remains a doubt.

Hardik has been out of action since injuring his ankle during a World Cup match against Bangladesh in Pune.

Soon after announcing Hardik's trade from GT, MI announced that the all-rounder will lead the franchise in the upcoming season of IPL, replacing long-serving captain Rohit Sharma.

Pandya had played seven seasons of IPL for Mumbai before being released prior to the 2022 season. After joining Gujarat Titans, Pandya led the side to back-to-back IPL finals, including earning them the trophy in their debut season.

Hardik missed the recently concluded white-ball leg of the South Africa tour, as well as the T20I series against Australia. In his absence, Suryakumar led India to a 4-1 series win over Australia, while the T20I series ended in a draw.

If true, the latest development could be a huge blow for both Team India and MI.

During the IPL auction, MI bought South Africa pacer Gerald Coetzee as their first buy. Coetzee, who had a base price of Rs 2 crore, went to MI for Rs 5 crore after bidding wars with RCB and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

The duration of retention largely hinges on user preferences and the popularity of the app. TRG Data Centers recently conducted an analysis of smartphone users' app uninstallation habits, unearthing some unexpected findings. The report delves into the data to offer insights into user behavior regarding the installation and removal of mobile applications.

According to the report, there are 4.8 billion social media users worldwide, which represents 59.9% of the global population and 92.7% of all internet users. Those that use social media use an average of 6.7 different networks each month, spending an average of 2 hours and 24 minutes on them per day.

According to the findings in the report, it was revealed that Instagram emerged as the social media platform most users were inclined to remove. The data indicates that in 2023, a staggering number of over 1 million individuals globally were actively searching for 'how to delete my Instagram account' each month. This equates to more than 12,500 searches per 100,000 people worldwide.

Interestingly, despite its origins as a digital scrapbook, Instagram has consistently maintained its position at the forefront of the social media landscape.

The report further states that despite all this trend, the app still boasts 2.4 billion active users worldwide. However, if a million people continue to seek deletion of their accounts every month, the 'Instagrammable' bubble could burst, potentially altering its landscape within a year.

This was followed by Snapchat, which first launched in 2011. Almost 130,000 people have looked to delete their Snapchat account per month this year. And while this is significantly less than Instagram, it's still a large part of their 750 million users.

Hardik was traded to MI from Gujarat Titans ahead of the IPL Players Auction. The five-time champions then announced that the player will replace the long-serving Rohit Sharma as captain.

India will take on Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series between January 11 and 17, which will mark their final T20I assignment before the World Cup in June-July.

Hardik has been out of action since injuring his ankle during a World Cup match against Bangladesh in Pune. He had missed the T20I series' against Australia and South Africa, with Suryakumar Yadav leading the side in his absence.

"Human Race Must Change...": Court On Divorce Plea Over Woman's Skin Colour

The Chhattisgarh High Court last month called for the eradication of "discrimination based on skin colour" as it upheld a family court order denying a man's divorce application. The husband had claimed "cruelty", arguing he had been deserted by his spouse, but the court ruled for the wife, who said she had been insulted, and thrown out of her home, because of her darker complexion.

The court then came down strongly on the man, who was wed in 2005, and said it could not give others, through its judgement in this case, an "incentive to promote (a colourist) mindset".

"The human race needs to change the dialogue at home... which may not promote the fairness preference of skin," a bench of Justice Gautam Bhaduri and Justice Deepak Kumar Tiwari said.

The court also referred to studies on the role skin colour plays in selection of marital partners and the long-running debate on "fairness creams", which, in 2020, were the subject of an amendment to the Drugs and Magic Remedies Act that prescribed a five-year jail term for ads promoting fair skin.

"The study further indicates... dark-skinned (women) were rated lower than their counterparts, and the majority of skin-lightening cosmetics target women. They are likely to portray a dark-skinned woman as under-confident and insecure... unable to secure success in life," the court noted.

"Therefore, the incentive cannot be given to a husband to promote such mind set of the society for preference of light skin over dark..." the court ruled, adding, "... we are of the view that no ground of cruelty, or desertion, has been made out by the husband to get the decree of divorce..."

David Kozak, Man Behind Prague University Shooting, Was "Excellent Student"

At least 14 people were killed, and 25 others sustained injuries in a mass shooting at the Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, on Thursday. According to Czech police, the incident occured in the philosophy department of the varsity. Authorities are investigating what's been described as the worst mass shooting in the history of the Czech Republic. The death toll may rise, they said.

The police said that the shooter, David Kozak, was a twenty-four-year-old history student.

Who was David Kozak?

David Kozak, 24, lived in a village almost 20 km outside Prague and was getting his Masters Degree in Polish History at Charles University. He was an "excellent student", Prague Police Chief Martin Vondrasek said.

He legally owned several guns and was heavily armed during the incident. The Police Chief said what he did was a "well thought out and horrible act."

David Kozak is suspected to have also killed his father in the nearby town, Houston, before going on a killing spree in Prague. He did not have an accomplice, according to the police.

Police found Kozak's body inside the university but it was unclear if he killed himself or was shot by officers.

David Kozak talked about planning a school shooting on the messaging app Telegram, treating his channel there like a "diary" of his life "before the shooting." "I want to do school shooting and possibly suicide," he wrote in a post, as per the Telegraph, adding, "I always wanted to kill. I thought I would become a maniac in the future."

He is also suspected of shooting and killing a father and a newborn baby just one week before carrying out his murderous rampage, as per AP.

Police provided no information about the victims or a potential motive for the shooting. Czech Interior Minister Vit Rakusan stated that investigators do not suspect any connection to extremist ideologies or groups.

Charles University authorities have announced that they will increase security measures in university buildings immediately. They said in a statement, "We express our deepest condolences to all the bereaved families who lost their loved ones. Our thoughts are now with the loved ones of those who are now fighting for their lives."

Pak Mother Finds Missing Son After 7 Years, Sees Him Begging: Report

In an emotional reunion, a mentally challenged former policeman, missing since 2016, was found begging by his mother at Rawalpindi's Tahli Mohri Chowk on Tuesday, Dawn reported.

Shaheen Akhtar recognised her son and, amidst emotional scenes, they were reunited after seven years.

Following the discovery, the police apprehended four members of the beggars' gang, including three women, and initiated an investigation to locate their accomplices, as reported by Dawn.

Mustakeem Khalid, the missing man, had been subjected to torture and injections during his captivity by the beggars' gang, according to his mother. Mustakeem, a former policeman suffering from a mental disorder, had disappeared in 2016 due to the effects of typhoid fever.

His mother, Shaheen Akhtar, had previously filed a missing person report with the Civil Lines police, explaining that her mentally challenged son often left home due to depression. Despite villagers usually bringing him back, Mustakeem did not return after leaving in 2016.

The reunion occurred when Shaheen Akhtar, oblivious to her son's whereabouts, spotted him begging with a gang at Tahli Mohri Chowk. The gang, comprising three women and two men, was forcing Mustakeem to beg, exploiting his disability.

Upon recognizing her son, Shaheen Akhtar embraced him, but the gang members accompanying him began assaulting and abusing her. The FIR filed stated that Mustakeem Khalid was abducted and incapacitated by the gang to beg.

A police spokesman reported the arrest of gang leader Wahid, along with three women, while efforts were underway to apprehend the remaining culprits. Wahid, the real brother of detained members Maryam and Sabina, was later arrested. Raids continued to capture the other gang members, Dawn reported.

"Save Democracy": INDIA Bloc Leaders Protest Over Mass Suspension Of MPs

Leaders of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc staged a protest under the banner 'Save Democracy', at Jantar Mantar here on Friday.

Senior opposition leaders, including Nationalist Congress Party supremo Sharad Pawar, Congress' Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, CPI-M's Sitaram Yechury, and others, shared the dais to protest against the recent suspension of 146 opposition MPs from Parliament's Winter Session, which was adjourned sine die on Thursday.

NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar said the opposition was ready to pay any price to save the democracy.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, participating in the protest, said that the protest is send a message among people that whatever is happening is 'wrong for the future of the country'.

"In the history of democracy in the world, 146 MPs have never been suspended... People should know that the democracy is in danger. The protest is to tell the people that whatever is happening is wrong for the future of the country... There is only one solution, people should change this government and bring the INDIA Alliance into power," Mr Tharoor told ANI.

Congress MP Karti Chidambaram said, "It was only natural on the part of the opposition to ask for a statement by the home minister... But the government was adamant in not heeding our request. So there were protests within the Parliament. The reaction of the government was to suspend 146 members of the opposition and ram through laws, which have far-reaching consequences on the daily life of people in India... The government wants to have a parliament which would only be a stamping house for all their laws without any discussion... So they want the Parliament to just be like in China or in North Korea... This is a betrayal of the faith people have in the parliamentary system. We want to highlight this and tell them what is happening in parliament is not good for India..."

Congress MP Manish Tewari said, "To save democracy in the country, all nationalist organisations need to come together and send a message in one voice..."

The Members of Parliament, suspended from the Parliament's Winter Session, were also present at the protest.

Also, a nationwide protest has also been scheduled at all district headquarters by the Congress party today.

A total of 146 MPs -- 100 from Lok Sabha and 46 from Rajya Sabha -- were suspended for creating a ruckus and disrupting proceedings in both Houses, while they were demanding a statement from Union Minister Amit Shah about the Parliament security breach incident.

Earlier on Thursday, after the conclusion of the 262nd Session of the Rajya Sabha, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said that he is pained to state that nearly 22 hours of the Upper House were lost due to avoidable disruptions.

"I am pained to state that nearly 22 hours were lost due to avoidable disruptions adversely impacting our overall productivity that finally stood at 79 percent. Weaponizing disruptions and disturbance as a political strategy doesn't resonate with our constitutional obligation of keeping the interest of people at large above any other political considerations," the Rajya Sabha Chairman said.

Earlier on Thursday, while the proceedings of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were underway, the suspended MPs took out a march from the Parliament building to Vijay Chowk to protest against the bulk suspension of opposition lawmakers.

Ajay, Rohit Reveal How Their Dads Started Out - In A Gang, As A Waiter

On Karan Johar's chat show Koffee With Karan 8, Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty talked about their fathers and their respective film journeys. Ajay Devgn shared how his late father and action director Veeru Devgan came to Mumbai and how he got into films. "He ran away when he was 13. He came to Mumbai without a train ticket. He was taken behind bars. He had no work so no food. Somebody helped him, said that you wash my cab every day and I will let you sleep in it. So, he started from there," Ajay Devgn said. He recalled, "He started from there and eventually became a carpenter. Then he became one of the gangsters in Sion-Koliwada area. He was a carpenter also and there were gang wars. One day a very senior action director, Mr Ravi Khanna, was passing by and there was this street fight going on. So, he stopped the car and called my dad after the fight and asked, what do you do? And he said I'm a carpenter here. So, he said one very good line, Tu ladta achha hai, come and meet me tomorrow and made him a fighter. So that's where he started from".

Rohit Shetty's father MB Shetty was a stuntman and action choreographer as well. The filmmaker revealed that he lost his father at a very early stage in his life. "Things were difficult. Till the age of 16, we had a lot of struggles. When I was 17, I joined him (Ajay)," he said. Speaking of his mom Ratna Shetty, the filmmaker added, "She was a stunt artist. That's how my dad and mom met. After he passed away, there was financial crisis. So she worked as a junior artist and after that when I grew up, it is a proper blockbuster story."

Recalling his father's journey, Rohit Shetty said, "He was in Udupi. He was 13 when he came to Mumbai. He was a waiter in Cotton Green, in a restaurant and from there he started. Then he started boxing and bodybuilding, and then obviously, because he was well-built, 6'3, someone gave him an idea why don't you try in movies. And then he joined...Senior to Ravi Khanna Sir was one action director of black and white movies called Azim Bhai, so he joined him and gradually he became fight choreographer."

Ajay Devgn added to this, "Today you go on social media, read so many things like nepotism etc but people don't realise that the generations have worked very, very hard to reach till here. It's not an easy story."

To this KJo added, "I laugh Ajay. My father (Yash Johar), who is no more, would have had the biggest laugh if he read that they call me the flag bearer of nepotism. My father had such a tough time to be where he was. He was a production controller. And then he became a producer and so many of his films failed one after the other. He mounted films that failed. I remember my mother selling her jewelry and my nani's apartment. And I am like now we don't talk about this because it seems, right now everyone is looking at the person today."

Speaking of the harshness of the industry towards failure, Ajay added, "We have seen people getting ruined." He added, "30-40 saal nikal jate hain. Chahe aap industry ke ho ya na ho, struggle sabke liye barabar hai, hard work toh karna hi padta hai (30-40 years pass by in this struggle. You belong to the industry or not, the struggle is similar for everyone, you have to work hard). We are still working hard. Both my ankles are broken, people don't see that hard work. When Rohit (Shetty) came as an assistant, he literally didn't have proper money to have food."

"Punches Are So Professional": Video Of Fight Inside Delhi Metro Is Viral

A video of a fight inside the Delhi Metro has gone viral on social media. In the clip posted on X, two men are seen throwing punches at each other non-stop. However, the reason behind the fight is not known. The clip has received mixed reactions from social media user, with some slamming the two men for their behaviour and others joking they should be sent to the Olympics. In the 10-second clip, other passengers in the Metro coach are seen concerned.

NDTV cannot verify the authenticity of the video. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) too hasn't reacted to it officially.

The clip has a close-up view of the area inside the Metro coach where the fighting is taking place. Other passengers moved to the side to avoid being hit by the men who are busy attacking each other.

Some passengers try to calm them down, but to no avail. Both the men are seen throwing punches at each other and none of them stops before the short clip ends.

The video has been viewed close to 2,000 times and amassed reactions from several users.

"Both are educated and live in the capital of Bharat," said one user. "Punches are so Professional... it's Mohammad Ali vs George Chuvalo level of boxing," said another.

"Both are diamonds and both must be sent to Olympics games," a third user commented.

A similar video had surfaced in June too that showed two backpack-wearing men engaged in an ugly fight inside a crowded Delhi Metro coach.

The men were also seen punching and trying to push each other away.

The DMRC had reacted to the video, issuing a statement in which it urged commuters to "conduct themselves responsibly" while travelling in the Metro.

It had also said that flying squads regularly monitor such behaviour and warned of action against unruly passengers.

New York Mayor Says It Is The "Greatest City On The Globe" Because...

The mayor of New York has said that the city is "very complicated" as its people could experience everything from the September 11 attacks to a new business opening.

Eric Adams, who took office in 2022, made the unusual remarks when asked during a television interview what his year had been like.

"New York. This is a place where every day you wake up you could experience everything from a plane crashing into our (World) Trade Center through a person who's celebrating a new business that's open," he said in the interview on Sunday.

"This is a very, very complicated city, and that's why it's the greatest city on the globe," he added during the interview on the PIX11 broadcaster according to a transcript issued by his office.

The attacks carried out on September 11, 2001 by Al-Qaeda claimed 2,977 lives including passengers and crew on four hijacked planes, victims in New York's World Trade Center, firefighters, and Pentagon staff.

Since coming to office as the city's second Black mayor, Adams has been gripped by scandals including a sexual assault allegation and claims of corruption.

The FBI and prosecutors are also investigating whether a construction firm used fronts to donate money to Adams' election campaign.

His standing in the polls has plummeted as he has forced through budget cuts, which he blames on the influx of migrants.

Adams, 63, served as a police officer in the city for more than 20 years. He went on to be a state legislator and president of the borough of Brooklyn.

In office, he has become known as much for his gaffes as his trademark branded windbreakers.

Woman Considers Charging 'No-Show Fee' After Several Guests Skip Wedding

An Australian bride is considering charging her guests a 'no-show fee' after 10 guests cancelled at the last minute to her interstate wedding, as per a report in the New York Post. The guests sent their confirmations over six months ago and the payment to the venue is non-refundable. 

The woman spoke about the same on the "She's on the Money" podcast and her thoughts have divided the internet. "It's now one week out from the wedding and I have already given the confirmed numbers to the venue and paid the outstanding amount, which was $12,426," she said.

"Within the last week, ten guests, who had previously RSVP'd, said that they were coming and have now cancelled citing that it's too expensive for them to travel interstate," she continued. The woman went on to say that she was essentially losing out on $1,336 if she didn't "scramble to cover their seats." 

She added, "Is it reasonable to request that they cover these costs themselves?" The bride also added that formal invites were sent out in January this year, with the majority of attendees responding by July. Not only this, the guests were given a "Save the Date" one and a half years prior. 

She also shared the messages received by the people who cancelled the wedding. "So sorry, I know we RSVP'd yes and the wedding is next week but we just can't afford to travel interstate at the moment," a text message read. "Hope you understand, would love to have been there," read another.

The podcast's audience was quick to pick sides, with many saying that the guests should pay for their late cancellations.

"No one books flights for an interstate wedding the week prior. The guest is 100% at fault here and is not a nice friend for doing this," one listener weighed in. 

"Given they said YES in July - they had almost six months to ensure they could save for it. Very disappointing they committed to coming but then didn't plan to be able to afford it," a guest remarked. 

Another added, "Any other investment other than relationships has cancellation policies lol, so it makes sense to me that you owe the couple money or at least it would be the right thing to do... if you cancel late."

"If you can't afford to cover the cost then have a cheaper wedding," said a person.

"This is the bride and groom's event so it's up to them to cover the cost and NOT the people they chose to invite," another person said.

अगर हम प्रत्येक पुरुष साथी की त्वचा कोशिका लेते हैं और एक भ्रूण पैदा करते हैं जो उस भ्रूण को गर्भावस्था के लिए एक सरोगेट (किराये की कोख) की जरूरत पड़ेगी. हमें अब इसके बारे में बातचीत शुरू करने की जरूरत है.

Speaking to ETimes, Triptii said, "Honestly, the scene is getting a lot of criticism and it did disturb me initially, because I'm someone who has hardly faced criticism. I was also taken aback. But then, I sat myself down and I thought about it. Nobody forced me to become an actor. I wanted to do it because I found it exciting. And as I started doing it, the characters that I played, started healing a part of me. And I started having fun with the process."

The one news that has been making the headlines in Indian cricket since Friday is the appointment of Hardik Pandya as the new Mumba Indians captain in place of Rohit Sharma. While Hardik Pandya has earlier led Gujarat Titans to two successive IPL finals, winning one of them, Rohit Sharma has been one of the most successful captains in the history of the T20 franchise league. Rohit Sharma commands a huge fan following and his removal as the skipper was met with some strong reactions from Mumbai Indian supporters. 

Now, a new report has claimed that Rohit Sharma was informed about the need of change in Mumbai Indians captaincy around the start of the ODI Cricket World Cup 2023, which began  in the first week of October. According to the report in Indian Express, Rohit Sharma agreed to play under Hardik Pandya in IPL 2024. 

Hardik Pandya, who had left Mumbai Indians to join Gujarat Titans in 2022, was bought back ahead of the IPL 2024. The report claimed that Hardik Pandya's condition was that he would return to Mumbai Indians if he is made the captain. The MI management then decided on the way forward and made Rohit Sharma aware of their decision. 

Mumbai Indians (MI) on Friday named Hardik Pandya as their captain ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Hardik replaced a highly-successful Rohit Sharma, who led the IPL giants to five trophies. The announcement from Mumbai Indians came after Hardik made a return to the franchise last month, following a high-profile trade from Gujarat Titans, whom he led in the past two seasons. After announcing the news of the captaincy change, MI put a heartfelt post on social media for Rohit.

"Ro, In 2013 you took over as captain of MI. You asked us to Believe. In victories & defeats, you asked us to Smile. 10 years & 6 trophies later, here we are. Our forever captain your legacy will be etched in Blue & Gold. Thank you, Captain RO," wrote MI on X, formerly Twitter.

Earlier in a statement on Friday, Mumbai Indians said the change in leadership was part of their future planning and thanked Rohit for his exemplary service to the franchise.

Mumbai Indians are the most successful IPL franchise alongside Chennai Super Kings who both have won five titles each.

Rohit, who recently led India to the ODI World Cup final, had been captaining the franchise since 2013 when they lifted first of their five IPL trophies.

The other titles under Rohit's captaincy came in 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020. Mumbai Indians had made it to the play-offs in IPL 2023.

"We express our gratitude to Rohit Sharma for his exceptional leadership; his tenure as the captain of the Mumbai Indians since 2013 has been nothing short of extraordinary," said Mahela Jayawardene, MI's Global Head of Performance.

संकेत भोसले ने अपने इंस्टाग्राम अकाउंट पर बेटी के साथ प्यारी सी तस्वीरें शेयर कर फैंस को ये गुड न्यूज दी है. संकेत भोंसले से अस्पताल में ही अपनी पत्नी के साथ बेटी की फोटो ली हैं और उनको पोस्ट किया है उन्होंने लिखा है - 'ब्रह्मांड ने हमको ब्लैसिंग देकर एक सबसे प्यारे चमत्कार से नवाजा है. हमारे प्यार के प्रतीक ने हमारे घर में क्यूट लिटिल बेबी गर्ल के रूप में जन्म लिया है. प्लीज अपनी दुआएं,प्यार और आशीर्वाद दीजिए'.आपको बता दें कि ढाई साल पहले सुगंधा मिश्रा और संकेत भोंसले शादी के बंधन में बंधे थे. इसके बाद वो अपनी मैरिड लाइफ की प्यारी तस्वीरें फैंस के साथ शेयर करते रहते हैं. कुछ समय पहले इस कपल ने बाकायदा मराठी रीति रिवाज के साथ बेबी शॉवर की रस्म भी की थी.
